Church Youth Activities
Church Service
Acolytes help during worship services. They are the young people in the white robes who light the candles, take the offering from ushers, and help with communion and baptism. Don't worry, we will show you what to do.
We have a nursery for babies and children under 5 years of age.
It is staffed by volunteers...high school age or older.
Bell Choir
We have recently started a children's bell choir.
If you are interested in learning to play this beautiful music, call the church office. (You do not have to know how to read music.)
Christian Education
CrossWalk is the name of our Sunday School, because we don't want to go to school on Sundays. We want to have fun while we learn about our Lord. CrossWalk is held from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m., and there is even a class for the adults at the same time.
Youth Adventure Program (Y.A.P.)
This is an after-school program for first through sixth graders. It is held on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. and is full of fun, crafts, friends, games...and we learn a lesson in between all that too!. A delicious dinner is served. Children from the community are welcome to attend Y.A.P and many do.
Confirmation Classes
Each fall a new session of classes begin for our 7th and 8th graders to prepare to affirm their baptism. Call Pastor David (Pastor David Rushton) for more information.....419-726-0049.
Vacation Bible School
Each year Messiah invites the community youth to a week of Vacation Bible School. Here they continue their spiritual development through a variety of fun activities. This week is looked forward to each year and looked back on with smiles.
For more information regarding this year's Vacation Bible School, please go to the side menu under Youth Activities to the heading "Vacation Bible School".
Social Groups / Activities
Lutheran Youth Organization is for high school youth getting together to have fun in a safe environment. Mom and Dad do not have to worry about where they are and what they're doing.
They meet at the church for "lock-ins", or going bowling, out for pizza or roller skating or....stay at the church for a movie or game night. Sometimes they get together with youth from different churches for "Paintball" or "Capture the Flag".
It is fun, in a healthy, supervised environment bringing youth together for socialization , as well as learning many other important values toward good citizenship and adult life.
